The Basics of Travelling

Travelling refers to the general movement of individuals between different, often remote, geographical locations. Travelling can take place by foot, by car, bicycle, bus, train, plane, boat, truck or any other mode of transport, with or without luggage and can often be one-way or round trip. Many travellers take advantage of air travel, as it provides a quick and easy way to get from one destination to another. Travelling does not have to involve a specific route. Individuals can travel where ever they feel like going at any given time. This article aims to provide an overview of some of the main types of travelling that people do on a daily basis.

TRAVELLING

Backpacking is a general term used to describe the process of traveling from point A to point B without any specific plans or objectives. Backpacking is not a specific activity, rather a way of life. Most backpacks are designed to be worn in a generic way so that the experience is more generic than being forced to travel according to a planned itinerary. A person who goes backpacking generally travels with little or no baggage and focuses on being as natural as possible to minimise the chance of being robbed or having your belongings stolen.

Motorcycle touring is a popular, safe, economical way of traveling for many people. Motorcycle touring is one of the fastest growing forms of travel, and motorcycle touring can be done both on two wheels (with the help of a motorcycle trailer) and four wheels (with the help of a motorcycle trailer hitch). Motorcycle touring typically involves a one-day journey where the focus is to sight-see and explore. Motorcycle touring is very economical, as most bikes are capable of traveling at speeds of over 50 mph.

Boat touring is another popular form of travel and is also one of the most environmentally friendly. Boats provide an easy way of traveling long distances, as they are relatively inexpensive, fast and easy to use. Boats are also an easy way to see different ports across the world as you pass through ports. Although boats have become outdated in some ways because of modern shipping methods, boats are still favored by some travelers for their ability to travel on a large scale. Boats can also be hired as motor homes when you arrive in a new place, as this allows for more flexibility in terms of booking a room and paying for boat transport costs. Traveling can be very expensive for those with a limited budget, therefore boat tours are also a good way of saving money.

Another type of travelling that can sometimes be overlooked is cycling. Cycling is a simple way of traveling, as the only thing that is needed is a bike pedal. A person can cycle from one place to another, taking in the sights and sounds of the environment along the way. Although this type of cycling can take up a lot of time, it is also a very healthy way of travelling. Cycling provides a great workout for the body, and the mind, which can help those who want to lose weight.

Other people travel by plane, train or bus. These forms of travelling are fairly cheap compared to other modes of travel, especially if you opt for air travel. Traveling by Plane takes up a shorter time, but is still a great way to see the country, as well as catching up on any news that you missed on your flight. Bus and train travelling provides the convenience of being able to walk a long distance between stops, which can be a little difficult when using planes.
