Traveling is the movement of humans between distant, often immobile, geographical locations. Travel can take place by car, bike, foot, train, plane, bus, bicycle, horseback or any other mode, with or without baggage, and is one way to travel around the world. With modern convenience travel has become an expensive proposition, however, for the average person traveling for business or pleasure, budget travel is not so much a matter of saving money as it is avoiding the hassles of parking, securing a cab, waiting in line at the airport, finding parking, etc.

The inconveniences involved in travel were once considered to deter most people from taking their annual vacations, but with the advent of air travel in particular the “inconvenience” factor became the exception rather than the norm. The experience of actually going away on vacation became more appealing to many people who could now get away from the daily grind and have an experience that would stay with them forever. Today, travel is still quite enjoyable and refreshing as it once was. In fact, travel brings back memories of family trips gone by and gives us a chance to “revisit” wonderful places that we have already visited while on vacations. And, travel also serves as a great stress reliever which is beneficial for our health.

Many researchers believe that the majority of health problems, both mental and physical, are related to being in the “comfort zone” or the familiar routines and environment for extended periods of time. For instance, travelling from one location to another and returning to your starting point is not only a time saver for you, but it also helps you to avoid health problems related to being stuck in your own familiar routine for extended periods of time. If you have been travelling for business for a few days, you will likely feel a little sluggish when returning home, but if you have been travelling for a couple of weeks, you will likely be much more energized and ready to take on your daily tasks than if you return home after a few days’ travel. If you can relate to this concept, you will know that by simply rearranging your travelling routine from time to time, you can actually reap the many health benefits associated with being away from your comfort zone for a while. When you travel outside of your normal comfort zone, you can experience many different changes that may benefit your health.

As previously mentioned, when travelling, you are more prone to “zoning out” or becoming bored. This does not mean, however, that you should always be on the road unless you have to. In fact, the key to good travel is creating a list of locations that you wish to visit while on your travels, choosing the ones that are least appealing and then creating a plan as to how you can overcome these factors and make your visit more exciting and stimulating. As mentioned, the most common problems associated with long term travel include boredom and disinterest. While you can help solve these problems by ensuring that you are taking in as many sights, sounds and smells as possible when you are travelling, you can also make your trips more interesting by ensuring that you are planning the journey in an effective manner. The preferred spelling of Travelling vs. Driving is therefore “Travelling” and not “Driving.”

In the final analysis, it is important to note that the preferred spelling of Travelling vs. Driving is actually more appropriate than the word “Driving” since ” Drives” actually infer ownership of the vehicle. Furthermore, “Driving” has already been commonly used throughout the UK, whereas “Travelling” and “Driving” are relatively new words and do not yet have the same appeal and meaning as they do now. Therefore, in the future, we may well find that “Travelling” will become more commonly used than “Driving.” So next time you are considering using the words Travelling and Driving interchangeably, consider the long term benefits to be derived from the process and the advantages of Travelling vs. Driving.
